MAT PILATES SESSION

Pilates Mat class is a floor-based series of exercises that will help strengthen and mobilize the entire body. While the main focus is on the core, all other areas such as the hips, glutes, legs, shoulders, and arms will also reap the rewards of a strong mat practice. Pilates is a great form of exercise for all levels. Pilates was originally called the "Contrology" and should be thought of as a practice. You are constantly trying improve your techniques and execute proper form. The fundamentals that you learn in Pilates Mat will help you all activities of daily living and you can apply these principles to other aspects of your training.

Pilates Tower Session

The Tower apparatus is part of the Classical Pilates training that offers a full-body workout, building on Pilates Mat fundamentals. By using a combination of springs and equipment, clients will feel a deep connection and feedback that will challenge their strength, control, stability and mind/body connection. This is undeniably a game-changer for anyone wanting to take their training to the next level.

MEET THE INSTRUCTORS

CARLY JAKUBOWSKI

Carly started her fitness career in 2007 as a barre instructor, and in 2010 was asked to join Core Sport where her love for Pilates and fitness took off. Since then, she has completed many teacher training programs and mentorships, including the Pure Body Teacher training program, along with mentorships with Kristin Schley (PBTT faculty) and workshops with Jaime White (PBTT co-founder), Benjamin Degenhardt (Pilates 360), Clare Dunphy Hemani (Progressive Bodyworks) and Jolita Trahan (co-founder of Pilates Network). Carly also holds a CPT and CSNC certification with NASM, with specialization in Performance Enhancement along with certification in TRX Suspension training. Recently, Carly left her corporate career to pursue her passion in helping others through healthy movement; she has taken on the role of Core Sport’s studio manager and is loving every part of it. When Carly isn’t working with clients, you can find her at the gym or studio completing her own workouts, traveling with her husband and spending time her family and friends.

Lisa Paparelli

Lisa is Core Sport's studio owner, as well as a Pilates Instructor. Lisa's fitness background starts with dance, swimming, martial arts (her favorite BJJ) and continues with her love of Pilates and Functional training. She joined Core Sport as a client in 2010 and she never looked back. She instantly fell in love with the studio, the workouts and the environment. Lisa became a student of Benjamin Degenhardt and she has completed his 360 Pilates Program (2014), continued her education through Pure Body Pilates Teacher Training (PBTT) and several Pilates mentors. Lisa is a wife and mom to two kids and has found her true passion as a Pilates practitioner and teacher.

CATHY OSBURN

Fitness has always been an integral part of Cathy’s life and she began her Pilates practice in 2011 at Core Sport. In 2018, Cathy made a career change and completed her classical comprehensive Pilates certification through Pure Body Teacher Training (PBTT). In addition to her PBTT certification, Cathy has studied and completed mentorship programs with Jaime White, 3rd generation Pilates Instructor and PBTT co-founder, and Kristin Schley, PBTT Faculty. Cathy is also an ACE Certified Personal Trainer, ACE Sports Performance Specialist and TRX Qualified Trainer. She has worked with all fitness levels and all ages including hockey players, baseball players, golfers and dancers. In her spare time, Cathy enjoys spending time with her husband, son and two Labrador Retrievers. When she is not in the Pilates studio, you will find Cathy at ice rinks cheering on her son.

Kelly MAYER

Kelly has a Bachelor of Science degree from EMU and an Associate of Science degree from Henry Ford College and has worked in the orthopedic field for 30 years designing exercise programs for the aging population, surgical and joint replacements and postural imbalances. She finished her foundation training as a Pilates instructor through MOVE wellness in Ann Arbor where Kelly discovered the benefits of Pilates training for herself and is enthusiastic about helping others find connections in their bodies. She now uses a combination of her years of working in the field physical therapy with her Pilates training to help her clients reach their fitness goals.
